About 45 minutes drive inland from The Gap, into Porongurup National Park, you’ll find Castle Rock und Granite Skywalk, the third of our “Getting High in Nature” sights. In contrast to the Gap, which is pretty new and very accessible, visitors have to hike 2.2 km through the jarrah, karri and marri forest on a steep track. At the end, there is a massive rock, onto which the Granite Skywalk is built.
You’ll then have the choice of climbing over two rocks and up a ladder to get to the highest vantage point. Alternatively, you can carry on hiking for a bit to get to a lower platform. Of course, we did not skip the last climb, but it was very clear we are not experienced rock climbers. 🙂
Please be aware that you’ll need decent shoes and carry enough water for the hike.
